Gira Misional (11/10/14)

November 10, 2014
This week was a really good week but it flew by really fast and we didn't get a lot of time to work in the field. This week we had our mission tour. An area 70 came to our mission and our President gave him a tour of the mission, we had a few conferences with him, and learned tons! My companion and I were "on call" the whole week you could say. We went to our conference Friday morning, and then Friday night there was a fireside for all the missionaries and their ward councils. Then Saturday us, the APs, and all the zone leaders in the mission had a smaller council with Elder Ortiz which was really, really, really good. We learned a lot of things from Elder Ortiz but a few things that stuck out to me are listed in the following: The first quote was actually from his wife who said, "Obedience isn't an option, its a must" I love that because without obedience this great work doesn't mean anything. Second Elder Ortiz said, "You can’t tell who is a good missionary or a bad missionary until after the mission. Then you can see if they live what they taught" and the last one is: "A spiritual person isn't someone who chokes up or cries during talks. A spiritual person is someone who knows the doctrine and completes with it"

The other crazy thing that happened this past week was that I completed 1 year in the mission!!! What a crazy thought... It was really weird to think that I am over half-way done, it is going by way, way, way too fast. I still can’t believe that I am going home so soon.

Just a few more things that happened this week. We had an Elder who was brand new here to the mission. Is a recent convert of about 5 years with him and his mom. His mom was a single mom since he was a kid and he is her only kid and he found out this week that his mom passed away. It was a really sad day here in the offices. He went home to see the funeral but is back now working in his area. President said "Well he doesn't have anymore family that he knows of here in this earth so we are going to love him to death and be his new family.

Lastly, to end a good note my companion and I made a "Future Missionary" name tag for Alan the kid of the family that just got baptized. He is going to be a future missionary for sure and in a year that family is going to be sealed in the temple. I love you all so much and hope you have a great week!

Love,

Elder Adams
